Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a fascinating history to the Cambodia gambling halls that reside just over the border from next door Thailand, in which casino gambling is banned. Eight gambling dens are established in a relatively small location in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia gambling halls is in a prime area, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and travelers from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and though visas are supposedly required to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored bateau casino, highlights one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 60 gaming tables. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty slot machines and five table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machine games and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and seventy tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six one armed bandits and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel compound that features many conveniences accompanying the casino, which contains 10,000 square feet of 130 slot machines and 88 table games.
